Hodapp Ready To Take The Reins As County Sheriff

With plans to build on the current strengths of the Beltrami County Sheriff’s Department and ideas for improvements of the force, Phil Hodapp is ready to begin work as Beltrami County’s new sheriff. Hodapp, a Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension special agent since 1985, won the election Tuesday with 8,910 votes, 54 percent, to Beltrami County Deputy Bill Cross’ 7,535 votes, 45.7 percent.

Hodapp will take office in January when Sheriff Keith Winger retires. On Wednesday, he thanked his family, election committee and the volunteers who helped him in the campaign, as well as the voters who turned out to put him in office.
